Act 56 (Orders of Chivalry)

Act 41, Laws 2-5 and Act 6, Law 6 are hereby repealed. There are four Orders of Chivalry (in order with highest first): 

The Glorious Order of St. John

The Order of the Bullmastiff

The Austenasian Order

The Order of the Crown Prince

Only the Emperor can bestow entry into these Orders to someone, except in the case of the Order of the Crown Prince. Only the Crown Prince/Princess can enter someone into the Order of the Crown Prince.

The Order of the Crown Prince will change it’s name to the Order of the Crown Princess if there is a Crown Princess, and vice versa.

Entry into the Glorious Order of St. John or the Order of the Bullmastiff is at the Emperor’s absolute discretion. Entry into the Austenasian Order should be for accomplishing a good deed towards the Empire or to humanity. Entry into the Order of the Crown Prince is at the absolute discretion of the Crown Prince/Princess.

There are three grades of knighthood in the Glorious Order of St. John: [This law has been changed – see Act 81, Law 3]

The highest knighthood that can be awarded is the Knight Companion. They must be male and there can be no more than twelve Knight Companions at a time. Knight Companions have the title Sir Forename Surname, KCJ.

The second highest knighthood in the Glorious Order of St. John is the Knight/Dame of Piety/Grace/Honour. The Emperor will choose which of the three types the knight will receive, or the knight him/herself may choose. Knights/Dames of Piety/Grace/Honour have the title Sir/Dame Forename Surname, KPJ/KGJ/KHJ/DPJ/DGJ/DHJ.

The third highest knighthood in the Glorious Order of St. John is the Knight/Dame of Virtue/Justice. The Emperor will choose which of the two types the knight will receive, or the knight him/herself may choose. Knights/Dames of Virtue/Justice have the title Sir/Dame Forename Surname, KVJ/KJJ/DVJ/DJJ.

The Sovereign of the Glorious Order of St. John is the Emperor. The motto of the Glorious Order of St. John is crux nostra corona.

There are four grades of knighthood in the Order of the Bullmastiff:

The highest is the Knight/Dame of Carothan. There must be a Knight of Carothan and a Dame of Carothan whenever possible. There can only be two people with this knighthood. Knights/Dames of Carothan have the title Sir/Dame Forename Surname, KOC/DOC.

The second highest is the Knight/Dame of Rose. There must be at least one Knight of Rose and at least one Dame of Rose whenever possible. There can only be four people with this knighthood. Knights/Dames of Rose have the title Sir/Dame Forename Surname, KOR/DOR.

The third highest is the Knight/Dame of Molossers. There must be at least one Knight of Molossers and at least one Dame of Molossers whenever possible. There can only be six people with this knighthood. Knights/Dames of Molossers have the title Sir/Dame Forename Surname, KOM/DOM.

The fourth highest is the Knight/Dame of Loyalty. Knights/Dames of Loyalty have the title Sir/Dame Forename Surname, KOL/DOL. [This paragraph has been changed – see Act 81, Law 5]

The Sovereign of the Order of the Bullmastiff is the Emperor. The motto of the Order of the Bullmastiff is ex amicitia pax.

There are five grades in the Austenasian Order, the first two being knighthoods:

The highest is the Imperial Knight/Dame of the Austenasian Order. Imperial Knights/Dames have the title Sir/Dame Forename Surname, IKA/DKA.

The second highest is the Knight/Dame Commander of the Austenasian Order. Knight/Dame Commanders have the title Sir/Dame Forename Surname, KCA/DCA.

The third highest is the Commander of the Austenasian Order. Commanders have the title Forename Surname, CAO.

The fourth highest is the Officer of the Austenasian Order. Officers have the title Forename Surname, OAO.

The fifth highest is the Member of the Austenasian Order. Members have the title Forename Surname, MAO.

Although Commanders, Officers and Members of the Austenasian Order have received an honour, they cannot call themselves knights.

The Sovereign of the Austenasian Order is the Emperor. The motto of the Austenasian Order is aterial, misericordia et patria.

There are five grades in the Order of the Crown Prince, the first four being knighthoods:

The highest is the Supreme Dame Companion of the Crown Prince. They must be female and there can be no more than one Supreme Dame Companion of the Crown Prince at one time. Supreme Dame Companions have the title Supreme Dame Forename Surname, SDCP. [This paragraph has been changed – see Act 104, Law 1]

The second highest is the Knight/Dame Protector of the Crown Prince. There can be no more than twelve Knight/Dame Protectors of the Crown Prince at one time. Knight/Dame Protectors have the title Sir/Dame Forename Surname, KPP/DPP.

The third highest is the Knight/Dame Companion of the Crown Prince. There can be no more than sixteen Knight/Dame Companions of the Crown Prince at one time. Knight/Dame Companions have the title Sir/Dame Forename Surname, KCCP/DCCP. [This paragraph has been changed – see Act 81, Law 6]

The fourth highest in the Order of the Crown Prince is the Knight/Dame of the Crown Prince. Knights/Dames of the Crown Prince have the title Sir/Dame Forename Surname, KCP/DCP.

The fifth highest is Squire of the Crown Prince. Squires of the Crown Prince have the title Forename Surname, SCP.

Although Squires of the Crown Prince have received an honour, they cannot call themselves knights.

The Sovereign of the Order of the Crown Prince is the Crown Prince himself. The motto of the Order of the Crown Prince is ex amore gaudium.

Some knighthoods are equal to each other. This is the list of knighthoods, highest first:

The Knight Companion of the Glorious Order of St. John and the Supreme Dame Companion of the Crown Prince are equal to each other.

The Knight/Dame of Piety/Grace/Honour of the Glorious Order of St. John and the Knight/Dame of Carothan are equal to each other.

The Knight/Dame of Virtue/Justice of the Glorious Order of St. John.

The Knight/Dame of Rose and the Imperial Knight/Dame of the Austenasian Order are equal to each other.

The Knight/Dame of Molossers, the Knight/Dame Commander of the Austenasian Order and the Knight/Dame Protector of the Crown Prince are equal to each other.

The Knight/Dame of Loyalty and the Knight/Dame Companion of the Crown Prince are equal to each other.
