Recently there has been a bit of a lull in the reporting on the Austenasian Times, with a combination of ongoing legal affairs, non-micronational affairs and careers eating up a lot of time as of late. Domestic News

The Serene Republic of Etchemin-on-Kennebec, a breakaway state within the Austenasiam community, was annexed following the passage of the Etchemin-on-Kennebec Act, reintegrating the community as a town.

The passage of the act led to Lord UaBlair reseating as the MP for Etchemin-on-Kennebec from their previous Diasporic List seat, resulting in Speaker of the House Caleb Sneeden calling a by-election to fill the seat. Lady Winchester, the Margravine of Beansville, had emerged as the favorite for the contest, though was found to be ineligible due to her residential status in the town of Caldari.

Crown Prince John, the Prime Minister, reshuffled the cabinet amidst preparations for his extended leave whilst training for the British Army, and a refocusing of internal initiatives. Lord UaBlair was named the new Deputy Prime Minister, Counsellor of State Emperor Adam I as the new Home Secretary, Lord Valentinus retained as the Chief Ambassador, Lord Griffin as the new Minister of Defence, Lady Winchester as the Secretary-General, Crown Prince John as the Treasurer, Lord UaBlair as the Minister of Culture, and Counsellor of State Vera Caesarissa Romanorum as the Minister of Justice.

After the Crown Prince placed himself on leave on the 14th of August as he began British Army basic training, Lord UaBlair became the Acting Prime Minister, which he is expected to assume for the up-to 13 week period that Phase 1 training is typically expected to last.

Foreign Affairs

Austenasia acceded to the new Convention Against Extra-Micronational Coercion in Micronationalism, a new treaty authored by Swena of Aethodia designed to prevent the normalisation of the use of extra-micronational instruments to attain asymmetric advantages in micronationalism, a problem that the Emperor of Adammia stated “places the entire [micronational] movement in jeopardy”. Cycoldia, New Athens, Curnon, Northwood-Oregon and more are amongst fellow signatories, and the Atlanta Micronational Union requires all members to abide by the treaty. Preparations are underway to organise an in-person event for a mass signing of the document, which is expected to become on-par with other cornerstone conventions such as the Wrythe Convention and the Edgebaston Convention.

The Senate recently ratified a new treaty with the Grand Duchy of Misberia last month, replacing an earlier treaty from 2025. A key facet of this new treaty was a pledge to mutually co-operate on the development of regional mental health programs, with Misberia donating resources to the government of Austenasia, and Austenasia likewise aiding Misberia in the location and formalisation of mental health resources situated within the United Kingdom.
