XI Dec. I 2012 (Political Parties)

In order to help bring together in discussion those of similar political viewpoints and to decrease political apathy amongst the people of Austenasia, it is hereby announced that it is permitted for political parties to be formed, groups of people with similar political ideologies and viewpoints, who can use such groups as platforms to aid their members should they stand for election to the House of Representatives or for Prime Minister.

A register of political parties will be maintained by the Secretary-General. Political parties shall apply for inclusion on the register of political parties by sending an application to the Secretary-General, specifying:

1. The name of the political party – this cannot be a name which:

   1. Would be likely to result in the political party being confused with a party which is already registered

   2. Is longer than six words

   3. Is obscene or offensive, or includes any script not of the Latin alphabet

2. The name and contact details of the person to be registered as leader of the political party

3. A summary of the political ideologies and aims of the political party

4. The logo, should it have one, of the political party – this cannot be a logo which:

   1. Would be likely to result in the political party being confused with a party which is already registered

   2. Is obscene or offensive

If the Secretary-General deems the application to be successful, then the applying political party will be added to the register of political parties.

It is the duty of all registered political parties to inform the Secretary-General as soon as is reasonably possible of any alterations to any information included in their original application, i.e. a change of name, logo, leader or political aims.

An application to the Secretary-General by a political party must be signed by the leader of that political party.

A broadcaster shall not include in its broadcasting services any political broadcast made on behalf of a political party which is not registered under Laws 2 and 3 of this same Act.

A person standing for election to the office of Representative, or a Candidate for Prime Minister, shall not do so on behalf of any political party which is not registered under Laws 2 and 3 of this same Act.
