The following actions are crimes (along with those listed in Act 29, Law 4) [This list has been added to – see Act 85, Laws 4 and 6]:
Animal cruelty – doing something with the intent of causing pain or discomfort to an animal. [This paragraph has been changed – see Act 104, Law 8]
Child cruelty – doing something with the intent of causing pain or discomfort to a child.
Environmental damage – doing something with the intent of damaging the environment, e.g. polluting or destroying ecosystems.
Refusal to pay taxes – refusing to give the appropriate sum of money to the tax collector once each month.
Vandalism – damaging or defacing property belonging to another person without that person’s permission.
If somebody is found guilty of environmental damage and is punished by paying a fine, then half of the money paid will go towards the Ministry of the Treasury and half will go towards either repairing the damage done or to an environmental charity of the Prime Minister’s choice.
If somebody is found guilty of refusing to pay taxes, then they must pay to the Ministry of the Treasury the taxes that were not paid. This does not count as the punishment for the crime.
