As decreed by our illustrious predecessor Justinian the Great on 30 October 529 and found in Book XIV of the Codex Jonathanus, “Every interpretation of laws by the Monarch, made in whatever manner, shall be considered valid and unquestioned.” Let all, therefore, learn and adhere to the interpretation of Our Imperial Majesty of Article IV, Section A, Paragraphs D and E of the Austenasian Constitution of 2011, the ultimate interpreter of which we are.
Paragraph D of said Section states that “all sovereignty and political power is derived from and is ultimately held by the Monarch,” but then goes on to state that “the Monarch holds this position from the will of the People, with which as in any civilised society resides ultimate political power.” This may be seen as contradictory, but such is not the case.
Our Imperial Majesty rules – as our style states – “by the Grace of Christ our God.” As stated in Romans 13, there is no authority except that appointed by God, and we reign as anointed Emperor. All sovereignty and political power – manifested, in accordance with Section A, Paragraph E, in the executive, legislative, and judicial governance of Austenasia – is therefore held by our Throne, and while it may in part be delegated to others, it derives its authority from our legitimation. Only by our consent and approval can any action in the executive, legislative, or judicial sphere of governance be undertaken, and likewise, no action of governance may be undertaken against our express wishes.
If all power and authority is held by our Throne as an Emperor appointed by God, what, then, does it mean to say that we hold this position from the will of the People? Ultimate political power resides with the people in so far as the Austenasian people willingly hold allegiance to our Throne as subjects, not as slaves. Austenasia is not a tyranny, but a monarchy, and was made a monarchy due to the will of its people. We respect the God-given rights of all people to life, liberty and justice, just as the authority of our Throne, too, is God-given. The relationship between the Monarch and our people is a reciprocal one; the people of Austenasia owe allegiance to our Throne, and in return we provide them with stable, just and godly government. At our coronation, we promised to rule fairly and wisely and that, by the Grace of God and with the support of our people, we shall continue to do.
