By my Second Imperial Decree, all Orders of Chivalry as set out before the implementation of the Austenasian Constitution of 2011 were confirmed to retain that structure even after the Acts of Parliament establishing them were abolished by Article II, Section C of said Constitution, meaning that male recipients of knighthoods have a title beginning with “Sir” and female recipients a title beginning with “Dame”.
I hereby permit female recipients of knighthoods to change their title of Dame to that of Sir and where “Dame” occurs in the name of their knighthood to “Knight” should they wish. Those who choose to do such shall be recognised as having held the changed title since it was originally bestowed. This shall apply to knighthoods bestowed before the passing of this same Edict.
I furthermore decree that females may also be knighted into the highest grade of knighthood in the Glorious Order of St. John. Said knighthoods shall be known as Dame Companions of the order and their recipients shall be known as Dame Forename Surname, DCJ (unless it is changed to the male style in accordance with the earlier parts of this same Edict). There can be a maximum of twelve Knight/Dame Companions in the Glorious Order of St. John.
