XIX Dec. I 2012 (Subjectship)

The Purpose of this Act is to make provision for those individuals with a non-Austenasian nationality who wish to be subjects of the Empire, to clarify the status of subjectship gained through military service, and to prevent those born between 21 April 1998 and 20 April 1999 from twice gaining and losing the status of a subject before 20 April 2014 due to Article III, Section B, Paragraph A of the Austenasian Constitution of 2011.

In accordance with Article III, Section B, Paragraph B of the Austenasian Constitution of 2011, all subjects of Austenasia hold a constitutional right to hold dual citizenship with the United Kingdom. However, it is not forbidden to also hold citizenship with other nations, so long as it is permitted by Parliament or an Imperial Decree.

1. A subject of the Empire of Austenasia is permitted to concurrently hold citizenship with the following nations: the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland; the United Kingdom of New Wessex; the Kingdom of Rushymia; and any nation with the status of a Protectorate of the Empire. 2. The Monarch is permitted to concurrently hold citizenship both with the states listed in Subsection A of this same Paragraph, and with any national or geopolitical entity (recognised or unrecognised by the Empire of Austenasia) which considers the Monarch their head of state.

Honorary, “cyber/virtual” or similar citizenships – that is, those which do not confer actual nationality upon the recipient, may be assumed by subjects of Austenasia without restriction.

In accordance with Article III, Section B, Paragraph D of the Austenasian Constitution of 2011, and the convention established by Act 114, Law 6, enlisted members of the Austenasian Armed Forces who have defended the Empire in combat after having been enlisted for ten days or more may be granted the status of a subject by the Monarch. Those who have already gained subjectship through this means – that is, Legate Sir R. Dickinson, KCP, CGC and Centurion Sir A. Hayes, KOM, GC – are hereby confirmed to have continuously held the status of subjects since 18 April and 2 May 2010 respectively.

In regards to Article III, Section B, Paragraph A of the Austenasian Constitution of 2011, those who will be thirteen years old or older on 21 April 2012 and younger than sixteen years old on 20 April 2014 may until 20 April 2014 choose not to assume the status of a subject once they reach the minimum age to do so.
