  1. The purpose of this Act is to establish a means for government officials to take a leave of absence from their official duties due to medical, family or personal reasons.

  2. Government officials of the Empire of Austenasia may request a leave of absence from their official duties for a period of time not exceeding two months for the following reasons:

    1. Serious medical illness as determined by a medical doctor;

    2. Serious injury;

    3. The birth of their child;

    4. Death of a family member;

    5. Serious personal issues as determined by the relevant granter of leave; or

    6. Extended periods of time without access to the internet.

  3. The Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Speaker of the House of Representatives may request a leave of absence from the Monarch. No more than one of the three aforementioned officials may go on leave at the same time; in the event that two of the aforementioned officials request leave at the same time, the Monarch shall grant leave to the official whose reason is the most needing of leave.

    1. In the event of the Prime Minister going on leave of absence from their duties, the Deputy Prime Minister shall exercise the duties of the Prime Minister until their return.

    2. In the event of the Speaker of the House of Representatives going on leave of absence from their duties, the Prime Minister (or a Representative designated by the Prime Minister) shall exercise the duties of the Speaker of the House of Representatives until their return.

  4. A Cabinet Minister, the Under-Secretary for the Environment, the Chief Inspector of the Austenasian Police and the Administrative Chiefs of the Armed Forces may request a leave of absence from the Prime Minister.

    1. In the event of a Cabinet Minister or the Under-Secretary for the Environment going on leave of absence from their duties, another Cabinet Minister shall be nominated by the Prime Minister to fulfil the duties of said official until their return as acting minister of their respective portfolio(s).

    2. In the event of the Chief Inspector of the Austenasian Police going on leave of absence from their duties, the Home Secretary shall nominate an Inspector to fulfil the duties of Chief Inspector as Acting Chief Inspector of the Austenasian Police until their return.

    3. In the event of an Administrative Chief of the Armed Forces going on leave of absence from their duties, their executive officer shall serve as Acting Administrative Chief until their return.

  5. A Representative may request a leave of absence from the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

  6. Any City or Town official may request a leave of absence from the Representative of the respective City or Town.

  7. Any Governor or Governing Commissioner may request a leave of absence from the Monarch, and an Acting Governor or Acting Governing Commissioner may be appointed at the Monarch’s discretion.
