The purpose of this Act is to allow for the designation and preservation of monuments and sites of special importance to the culture and history of Austenasia and the Carshalton Nations.

The Minister for Culture may designate any site or structure within Austenasia of importance to the culture and/or history of the Empire as a national monument. This designation may be vetoed by the Representative, Governor, or Governing Commissioner of the respective administrative division of Austenasia with the approval of the Monarch.

A national monument designated as such by the Minister for Culture shall be preserved and maintained in accordance with a charter agreed upon in regards to said monument between the Minister for Culture and the Representative, Governor, or Governing Commissioner of the administrative division of Austenasia in which the monument is found.

XXI Dec. I 2012 (Monuments of Wrythe), Paragraph 4 is hereby repealed. Any sites or structures designated as national monuments within the Capital shall be preserved and maintained in accordance with a charter agreed upon in regards to said monument between the Minister for Culture, the Representative of said Town or City, and the Prime Minister.

Violations of charters agreed upon for the maintenance of a national monument may, in accordance with its terms, be the second-class felony of vandalism of a national monument.

The Minister for Culture may designate as a heritage site any site or structure outside Austenasia which is of importance to the culture and/or history either of the Empire or of Rushymia, the Midget Empire or Nation-in-Exile, Orly, or – with the consent of the Prime Minister – of any other small nation or independence movement in some way connected to the Empire, regardless of its official diplomatic recognition by the Empire or lack thereof.

The Ministry for Culture shall maintain a list of all heritage sites designated as such by the Minister for Culture, and shall where possible collect and maintain photographic and cartographic records of said heritage sites, together with the reason(s) for their designation as such.
