The purpose of this Act is to enable illegitimate children to be treated as legitimate for all legal purposes upon application of their parents to the Monarch.

If the parents of an illegitimate child did not marry prior to the death of either the mother or the father, or if the parents of an illegitimate child will not or may not marry for some other reason, then the living parent or parents of said child may apply to the Monarch for legitimation of said child.

The Monarch may legitimize the illegitimate child of an applicant parent or couple after examining the facts of the case and deciding upon the merits of the application.

A child that is legitimized is entitled to any and all benefits as ordained by law and held by any other legitimate child.

In regards to Article IV, Section B, Paragraph F of the Austenasian Constitution of 2011, an illegitimate child born to a member of the Line of Succession will not, in accordance with Paragraph 4 of XCVI Jon. I 2018 (Succession to the Throne), join the Line of Succession, regardless of whether said parent later enters into an approved or non-morganatic marriage with the other parent of said child. However, the Monarch may in such cases choose to legitimize such a child, whether or not their parents are or have been married, should the future of the Throne otherwise seem jeopardous; in such a case, said child would thereupon join the Line of Succession as if a legitimate child born to an approved or non-morganatic marriage.
