Austenasia and the Empire of Imvrassia entered mutual recognition on 19 April 2017 with a treaty that also allowed dual nationality between the two states. A dispute arose in 2020 when Imvrassia’s monarchs claimed the title of Emperor without Austenasia’s agreement; the matter was resolved through negotiation, and by October 2020 Austenasia and the Holy Roman Empire, with Adammia’s consent, formally recognised the Imvrassian Crown’s imperial rank.
Friendship between the two nations’ leaders led the Austenasian Senate to name Imvrassian Emperor Aggelos I as Heir to the Austenasian Throne in 2024; he went on to reign over both Austenasia and Imvrassia in personal union for almost a year before abdicating the Austenasian throne in September 2025. He remains an Austenasian noble and senator.
