The Foreign Office has announced a week-long diplomacy window to coincide with the Emperor Day celebrations on the 25th of March. The move marks the ramping up of ongoing efforts to revise Austenasia’s foreign policy, virtually unchanged since first enacted in 2014 by Countess Eritoshi.
Ordinarily, Austenasia refuses to consider unsolicited requests for diplomacy as a matter of doctrine – owing to the sheer volume usually received. With exceptions, the Foreign Office ordinarily reaches out to prospective partners on its own initiative.
Notably there have been two exceptions to the rule. In 2022 as part of the Wilson administration’s ‘summer of diplomacy’ project, a two-week window was opened to allow prospective partners to apply for consideration at their own behest. Following the success of the project, it was again repeated during the summer of 2023. The event fell to the wayside in 2024 following the rise of the Musgrave administration, which saw catastrophic damage to Austenasia’s International presence, and did not return in 2025 amidst Musgrave’s failed coup de’tat and later Musgravite Rebellion against the crown.
After working on the project with the Emperor, Chief Ambassador Lord Valentinus has announced the return of the project, set to begin on the 25th of March to coincide with Emperor Day, and to conclude on the 1st of April.
A new set of criteria for potential partners will be trialled during the diplomacy window, with applicants ideally requested to meet a minimum of four:
- A minimum of 3-5 years continuous existence
- Good standing in the micronational community
- Documented real world presence
- Open to physical meetings with Austenasian officials
- Physical attendance of micronational events or summits
- Existing cooperation with Austenasia and/or its allies and Interests
- A letter of introduction from an Austenasian official
The official form will be published on Emperor Day on the Austenasian Times, the official Discord server, and other large micronational community venues.
