Claiming land

Most people who join Austenasia itself do so as a household. Usually, a family sends us a request to join the Empire, and after providing information and being deemed suitable for annexation, their house will be claimed as a new Town in the Empire. A local election can then be held to decide the new Town’s Representative.

Another way to join Austenasia is by claiming uninhabited land as a Territory. This is often somebody’s garden, or an area of public land over which they are able to raise our flag. The claimant can then be appointed the Austenasian Governor of the land in question.

Honorary Subjectship

Want to be connected to Austenasia, but have no land to claim? You can apply to be an Honorary Subject instead! Honorary Subjectship is just that – honorary – and you will not be counted towards our population or have any political rights or responsibilities. However, if you remain one for long enough, it can become a pathway to full non-residential subjectship.

Other means of involvement

You can still contribute to the Empire even without joining as an actual subject.

• Artists – The Ministry for Culture is looking for artists to paint or draw works of art for the Empire. Commissioned pieces will likely be portraits or of a commemorative nature. We are also interested in artists skilled at digital works of art using computer software.
• Diplomats – The Foreign Office is looking for ambassadors to represent us around the world. Austenasian diplomats are (usually) unaccredited and so serve a primarily ceremonial nature, but help to spread awareness of our tiny country, and are authorised to represent the Empire locally.

Support us financially

Austenasia does not tax its population, and state income relies on voluntary donations. Any monetary contributions towards Austenasia are gratefully received, and everything donated goes towards the expenses of keeping the government running and the funding of new projects.
