# Flandrensis

For several years the Empire recognised Flandrensis only as a nation rather than a sovereign state, since Flandrensis does not exercise physical control over its Antarctic land claim on Siple Island. That changed with a treaty signed on 13 January 2013, in which Austenasia recognised Flandrensisian sovereignty over its Antarctic claim and upgraded its status to a sovereign state.

The two nations remain on friendly terms and are both members of the UAMW. Emperor Jonathan I, while still Crown Prince, met Grand Duke Niels I of Flandrensis at the 2012 Polination Conference.
