Austenasia 2025 Intergames: Çakar triumphant in razor-thin victory over Valentinus

The Mancala event in the 2025 Micronational Olympic Federation Intermediate Games, hosted by Austenasia, has just concluded, following the conclusion of the intensely close third-place match between Austenasia’s Lord Valentinus, and Hasanistan’s Hasan Çakar.

The Mancala event was the first of its kind ever played within an MOF event, as part of an initiative to introduce ‘wildcard events’ by organiser Lord Valentinus. The Kalah variant of the game was selected, inspired by it’s appearance in the popular 2005-2017 MMO Club Penguin.

Initially fraught with difficulty following a streak of forfeiture and disqualification early in the competition, the competition would pick up with exciting matches as Austenasia, Medoles, Linbel and Knuffeldierland rose through the brackets. The success of the pioneering event inspired 2026 MOF eGames host bids such as Nenggog’s to suggest the future return of Mancala.

Last night, Zabëlle Skye-Greys of Knuffeldierland took home the gold medal in the final after Summer Bennett-Emelia of Linbel conceded the round. Both cyletes had been juggernaut contenders through the event, with the Knuffeldierlander cylete scoring landslide victories against Medoles and Hasanistan, and likewise the Linbelese athlete against Medoles and Austenasia.

In the early hours of this morning, Lord Valentinus and Çakar fought for the bronze medal – a final attempt to secure a gong for their respective home nations. After a slow start, Valentinus would come to dominate the game, and it appeared almost certain that Austenasia would finally secure it’s first ever MOF medal. The celebrations quickly ended as Çakar secured victory from the jaws of defeat, and won by two seeds in a razor thin 25-23 victory.
