With the upcoming election on November 24th rapidly approaching, early voting will open a week in advance on Monday 17th.

Votes will be case for a new Prime Minister, as well as for the annual election of the Diasporic List, i.e., the group of Representatives who serve on behalf of the Empire’s non-residential subjects.

Furthermore, local elections are being held in the towns of Blue Ridge and Procyon, which are approaching the deadline of five years since their last, as well as in the new town of Etchemin-on-Kennebec, which has so far been represented in Parliament by an unelected Acting Representative.

Only one candidate – HIH Crown Prince John – has stood for Prime Minister. As such, voters will also have the option to Abstain; should this get the majority of votes, a fresh general election will be called, with candidacies reopening.

Eleven candidates are standing to election for the Diasporic List, which only has nine seats. For this part of the election, voters can rank candidates in order of preference, with the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system being used.

Arrangements will be made by the relevant authorities to allow for voting on or by November 24th. Eligible voters may also contact their Representatives or any other governmental official in advance to arrange for their vote to be counted.

The Austenasian Times has approached each of the eleven candidates for the Diasporic List and asked them to describe their political positions and experience. A list of candidates, together with their responses, are as follows:

Diasporic List Candidates standing for election to represent non-residential subjects

Anthony Aldmont
“My political position would be moderately left (along the left-libertarian quadrant on the political compass). My policy areas of interest include supporting LGBTQ legal protections and rights, strengthening diplomatic ties with micronations such as New Virginia and the Würtige Empire, and rebuilding diplomatic relations within the broader community.”

Prof. Sir Sanjib Bhattacharya
“Drawing on two terms of dedicated parliamentary service, Sir Prof Sanjib Bhattacharya is committed to forging strong international bonds and champions the absolute abolition of racism, ensuring a just and equitable future for all Austenasian subjects. He brings unparalleled experience and an unwavering focus on good governance and citizen welfare to the House.”

Lord Mick Griffin, Baron of Glainamar
“I am the Deputy Leader of the All Austenasia Party and I support all of the policies outlined in our Party Platform.” Lord Griffin joined the Empire in March 2024 as the founder and Governor of the territory of Glainamar, and has also served as Treasurer and Chief Ambassador.

Dilly Johnson
A left-libertarian, and a believer in “people’s liberties and freedoms, as well as equity for all”. Lives in Versailles, Kentucky, and has been a non-residential subject since October 2025.

Sir Andrew Perdomo
“I have been an Austenasian Subject since October 2020 and Resident of New Orleans. I am a Conservative, and my focus is on preserving, reviving, and maintaining Austenasian cultural traditions, and ease of access to Austenasian government information and services”. Serves as Minister of Defence and Governing Commissioner of New Pontunia.

Count Chris Ramsay
A non-residential subject since May and the incumbent Secretary-General and Chief Herald. Ramsay has argued that foreign policy should not be “dictated entirely by nostalgia and personal networks, but by principles, geography, or tangible mutual benefit”. He opposes rejoining the GUM, instead advocating focusing on developing relations with British nations as well as non-micronational community outreach. He further proposes making the monarchy officially elective.

Stefan Snagoveanu
“I will support secularism/peaceful inter-faith relations, and I wish to help modernize Austenasia’s message and presentation so our nation can grow and stay adapted.” A green socialist who “cares about diversity, culture and democracy”, Snagoveanu has served as Governor of Prahova since November 2023.

Caleb Sneeden
“I am running to bring new life blood to the Empire. To encourage citizen activity, including greater democracy, as the law allows, to help rebuild the times and develop an internal culture. As for a description, I’m a journalist in my day job. I am a Midwestern American (Illinois), and I was a moderator for MW for a year, including head moderator for about eight months.”

Jan Statstny
“I personally do not have any radical stances when it comes to micronational politics. I believe that activity is the main source of micronation’s power and as such I hope to help with efforts improving the activity of Austenasia and develop such policies that are needed. I also seek to work on foreign relations and expand the outreach of Austenasian realm.”

Lord Sertor Valentinus, Baron of Bosford
“My aims for Austenasia is to be sat at the cutting edge of the development of the British Micronational sector with our partners, to formalise and expand our Olympic program, and to solidify our ties with our friends in the NV-Würtige Sphere, and to enshrine and protect the historically neglected civil rights of the growing proportion of our LGBT community within Austenasia. I’ve served as the Austenasian Home Secretary and the de-facto head of Austenasia’s Olympic Program.”

Nicholas von Uberquie
“My name is Nicholas von Uberquie, a social democrat running for the Diasporic List. I am running to finally recognise gay marriage and civil unions and improve legal protections against discrimination on the basis of sexuality, reintegrate with our community of fellow micronations and rejoin the GUM, and build back trust in Austenasian democracy and institutions. Pick Nick!”
